The boy is sitting in bed watching something. We don't know what yet. He is a sick little boy. He has been put to bed because he is so ill. "Look!" The doctor has left his satchel on the bed! The doctor looked the boy over and realized his sickness was going to take his life, so he called his mother out into the hallway to talk about it. The boy's name is Charlie. He has lived in Grundy Center his whole life. He is seven years old. Charlie has his milk by the lamp and his cookie in his hand. He looks over at a picture of his dog and is missing his dog. Charlie looks towards the hallway again. He knows that his mother and the doctor are scared for him. More than anything in the world Charlie just wants a new dog. Suddenly, a dog that Charlie has never seen before walks into the room. This dog jumps up on the bed and gives Charlie a good lick on the face. EWWWW! The magic dog lays under the bed. Charlie feels great! He begins to do jumping jacks. The doctor and Charlie's mother hurry into the room. The doctor looks Charlie over. He is confused. The doctor shouts, "It's a Miracle!!" His mother is shocked. She asked Charlie what happened. Charlie told her the whole story. Magic dog and all. The mother laughed and looked at the doctor and said, "Who do I pay the bill to? The doctor or the dog?" They both laughed. Then, to all their amazement, the magic dog came out from under the bed. He stood on two legs, used a furry paw to take the pen out from behind his ear, and said, "Woof! That would be me." Charlie's mom and the doctor fainted at the sight.
