It’s a beautiful day at Car’s Beach in Fort Smallwood. It’s a hot, sunny, summer day and the water is warm. A young woman named Dorothy is running down the beach, playing with her dog, Benny. Benny is a small dog, and looks a little bit like a chicken. As Dorothy runs, Benny grabs hold of her towel and says “Slow down, I can’t keep up!” He wants to play tug-of-war.
Dorothy is in very good shape and her skin is sunburned. As she runs, she thinks of her boyfriend. She hears the waves’ steady crash on the shoreline. Seagulls are flying overhead and someone is listening to the radio, “Turn the radio on, get in touch with God”. Dorothy is happy.
Dorothy is a lifeguard, and she saved a life today. She carries the key to her beach house on a bracelet on her arm. She thinks she sees her boyfriend waiting for her on a towel. She’s mistaken, so she runs to her towel to take a nap. Then she spots him! He is on the water, in his speedboat. He has been chasing her down the beach the whole time!
