A Day at The Beach
A family is spending time on the beach during the summer of 2016 on a Saturday at the Outer Banks, North Carolina. Michael is being thrown up in the air by his father Carl. The aroma of salt water , and the sound of the of the waves crashing on the sandy beach and seagulls soaring above, are all flooding the senses.
Michael and Carl are being watched by their mother and wife Mary, and other people spending their Saturday on the beach. Michael and dad are playing, and Michael is trying to fly. The experience is causing Michael to wish that he was a bird. More specifically, a Seagull. Unfortunately, Michael does not become a bird in actuality, but he is one in his own mind. Being a Seagull in his mind is all that maters at this point anyway.
The belief that Michael is having of being a bird is cut short when his father Carl fails to catch him. Michael falls into the water feet first, but Carl is quick to the rescue. Mom is laughing hysterically at the whole incident. Once Mary stops laughing, she decides that she is going to "show Carl how its done".
Mary rushes out into the water and starts where Carl left off. Mary plants her feet and begins a countdown..."Three"..."Two"..."One"...then hurls Michael into the air. The higher that Michael goes, the bigger his smile gets. Unfortunately his smile is shortly lived because Mary makes the same mistake as Carl did but on her first try. Michael goes up and Michael comes down, "Splash!" Poor little Michael belly flops into the water this time. Mary yanks Michael up right away because a horseshoe crab was about to attack the poor little guy. Despite the events that had transpired, Michael runs back onto the beach, splashing, laughing, and playing like nothing negative ever happened,and he enjoys the rest of his day.
