A Dream
It’s a pet
named Harry. It’s happening right here. Harry is waving at you.
You wave
back.
Harry waves
at you, again.
You wave at
him.
It’s all the
same wave. Harry feels pretty good because you are waving at him. You feel the same.
Both of you
want to go for lunch and take a drive. You will enjoy everything. The fresh
air. New and different scenery.
Your
favorite place to go is the park. There, you will hear different pets, swings
and trees and smell fresh air and flowers.
You take a walk
and see other adults, pets, trees, the sky, clouds and the sun. There is a cool
breeze. Along the way, you day-dream of relaxing and life in general. Walking
in the park you also dream about your trip to Hawaii and Alaska and climbing
Diamond Head.
“Behave” you
say to Harry. And, he does.
Next, the
same thing happens. You wave, walk and day-dream – all of them.
You go home
and just relax. Harry jumps when you get home because he is glad he’s back.
Epilogue:
Hilda’s husband Harry was sitting with her and participated in the creation of
this story. After the story was over, he talked about how he cannot wait until
they can get out of their place and go for a drive, go to the park and see
places again. He is tired of being inside (because of Covid guidelines). He
said he thought about opening the window today and crawling out. He chuckled,
then added two observations that damper this idea – there is a window screen
and it is snowing outside today.
