In 2002, Tom, a photographer and father of a young boy and girl, takes a business trip to the East coast to take pictures of the ocean for an upcoming article of National Geographic. He works best when he's alone, so he takes a solitary hike on a trail by the beach to take photos. About 30 minutes and into his hike, he scales a small hill and when he reaches the top, he sees this lighthouse on a cliff in the distance. Loving the scenery of the place, he takes several photos of the lighthouse before putting his camera down and just staring at it. He wonders who lives there, but in reality, the structure is completely abandoned and has been for decades. As he sits there, he imagines his own wife and two kids living by the beach and playing around the lighthouse. Tom plops down onto the ground and enjoys the soft sound of the ocean below him and the smell of budding flowers nearby. One of his favorite hobbies is going on hikes, and he loves it when he can just sit down and be mindful of what's going on around him. His wife loves the ocean, and Tom is sure that she would love to live in a place like this. Getting lost in his thoughts, he sits there for nearly an hour before realizing that he needs to return to his hotel to show his boss the photos he takes. As he leaves, the lighthouse is left alone again.
