A STORY FROM IRELAND
Facilitated By Jo Algiers
January 23, 2018
Isaac, the Irish Setter is a beautiful redhead. He is wandering through the woods near the Irish town he lives in. A family is enjoying a picnic nearby. Isaac enjoys just wandering, not knowing what he might find. Isaac had a great nose, he is a champion sniffer and just now, Isaac smelled something and heard something. The smell came first, it was a faintly human scent so Isaac was on alert. He tilted his head to hear better; was that laughter or crying? It was a small sound, but Isaac heard it. He splashes through the stream toward the sound. Then he sees something he recognizes! Isaac saw the baby with the family earlier. It is Bobby, the family baby sitting on the banks of the stream next to something odd. Isaac goes closer to Bobby, who is dressed in a green Leprechaun outfit (by his mother because they are visiting Ireland. Bobby is playing with something, Isaac moves closer. It is a black pot with something shiny inside. Isaac BARKS loudly to attract the family's attention, then sits by the baby to wait until help arrives.
Bobby is glad of the company, he wishes that he had a nice dog like this. Isaac wishes he had someone like Bobby to protect ALL THE TIME, that is what a dog need, thinks Isaac.
The gold in the pot disappears just as the worried and now very grateful family comes rushing to find Bobby guarded by Isaac. When anyone finds a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow, they will get their wish; the family takes Isaac home to be the family dog for Bobby to grow up with.
