It is a beautiful Friday morning in Itasca State Park in the good old summertime. Tom is crossing the Mississippi River; "Very carefully crossing on the rocks," says Sharon. Tom wants to check out the park because there are a lot of things to do there. Shirley adds, "He could go swimming, have a picnic or even go to the museum." There are also walking trails and a hotel with a screened in porch where you can have dinner. They serve pan fish, which is delicious!! The hotel is made out of logs from the park, called the Country Lodge.
The weather is sunny and mild, but cool enough to wear a jacket. The water is calm with no white caps. Tom is being very cautious so he doesn't fall in and get his camera or himself wet. The water is clear, looking like the "Land of Shy Blue waters."
"Tom can hear the birds singing, the loons calling and the water lapping against the rocks", says Mary. Tom is having a peaceful and serene day.
