This is a woman and her dog. Her name is May Mandella and her dog’s name is Rex. She dropped her wallet in the water, she’s jumped in to get it, and now she’s going for a swim!
This must be winter time because no one else is there; if it were summer, there would be people everywhere. Looks like it’s on the East Coast, so the water is cold. You can smell the ocean salt water. And you can hear the sound of motorboats and churning water.
May is cold! She doesn’t feel so lucky – she feels unlucky, because she dropped her wallet. There’s no one else around except her family. She’s 30 so she has her own family. She’s married to a man named Charlie and they have four children. Her family is somewhere nearby. They were at the ocean having a picnic when she dropped her wallet.
Now, she’ll have to swim for a long time – like 60 seconds – to try to get her wallet. But she won’t find it. And I’m worried about the dog; he has little chance of survival...
Next, May will give up and swim to the surface to catch her breath. She’ll try to pull herself up on to the bridge (unless it’s a suicide). She probably won’t make it to the bridge, but when she gets out, she’ll need a towel to dry off.
