Bobby Jeffrey is the little boy’s name. He’s very young, probably 5 years old. He likes cookies! And there’s a tall glass of something, too...root beer! (What a meal!) He looks happy and well-fed. Bobby and his family live in Lake Arrowhead, and right before this, Bobby went for a swim in the lake.
Bobby picked up this little box and it was full of good things, so he took it to his favorite spot. Now, he’s eating all the cookies. They’re German chocolate. But he better hurry, because his dog, Bountiful, is going to get them! (That’s really something!) Bountiful likes German chocolate cookies, too. Bobby is thinking, “I better eat these fast, before the dog gets them.” And Bountiful is thinking, “Slow down!” and “How can I get in there?”
Bobby has a family. His father is away on a trip for his company, and his mother and 7-year-old brother Henry are just outside the door, but they can’t get in, because they’re too weak from hunger. And Bobby has locked all four of his sisters out of the house, because he wanted all the cookies for himself! (He’s going to feel full...and sick to his stomach!)
Bobby is bewildered, because he’s trying to figure out how to come out of this situation on top. But someone is going to find him eating all the cookies, and then he’s going to get it!
You can smell cookies baking, and even some that are burning. And you can smell the dog, too. And the dog is investigating the smell of the cookies! You can also hear the crunching of the cookies, because they’re a little crisp, you know. And you can hear lots of whining: from the dog and from Bobby’s family.
