Down On The Farm
In the 1930's or 40's, Rosemary, who is maybe 7 or 8 years old is on Grandma and Grandpa's farm picking up eggs, she has them in her apron. She looks for eggs every day. Elmer, the chicken is following her around wanting her eggs back! That chicken might be somebody's lunch.
Rosemary is dressed up doing chores, she has a nice smile and a pretty bow in her hair. She is an angel from Heaven! She plans to be a farmer's wife when she grows up.
The goat's name is Billy, he is hiding. Elmer will find it though. Goats eat everything in site. They hear cock-a-doodle doo from roosters and mooing from cows. The smells from chickens are yucky, and the smells from the cows and goats stink. But, there is a nice smell of fresh hay too.
Tommy, the older brother, took Rosemary to the barn, his shoes are off. Grandpa is in the barn in the shadows, you can see his eyes there. Mother and dad are visiting Grandma in the house to show off their new baby. The baby is not big enough to look for eggs.
They will get all the eggs they want and have a good old-fashioned breakfast - some eggs, bacon, toast with homemade jelly or jam and milk.
