It’s the nineteen forties or fifties. You can tell by the shoes that these are dancers waiting for the curtain to come up. All are one legged ladies. Some have shoes on the right foot; some have shoes on the left. There are four on the right and six with shoes on their left foot. It could actually be a chop window advertising shoes. The shop could be advertising 10 different pair of shoes. Maybe the curtain was going up and the electricity went out. Roger would like to see what’s on top behind the curtain. The legs and shoes look like they are from all different ladies—different ages and different sizes. I think this takes place in Broadway or the Moulin Rouge in Paris or it could just be David Jones in the city.
When the curtain goes up “TAA DAAH”. There will be ten one legged ladies! If it was a dance troupe the legs would be even, there would be five with shoes on the right feet and five with shoes on the left. Joan thinks they are dancers and they are waiting for the curtain to go up – maybe they’re one legged strippers! What music would be playing? Definitely not Chekovski that’s for sure. They look like tap dancers. Maybe it’s a practice session. People arrive at practice sessions in all different clothes and they might not know where to stand yet. After the show is over they will all get a standing ovation, the audience will be impressed they have kept their balance for the entire show!!
