Gruffy, the Little Puppy
It looks like Super Dog! She’s a small dog, gray and white and with a blanket hooked around like Superman. Her name is Gruffy.
At the edge of the woods, she’s looking around at the big tall tree trying to figure out how she’s going to get herself up there.
She attempts to crawl up the tree trunk. It didn’t work. She fell back on her butt. As she is looking at the tree, she asks herself, “Can I do it or not?” Then, “I will try on more time” she says.
Gruffy walks around the tree stump to find the best spot to crawl up relatively high. Since she says she’s going to give it a try, she goes to the tree trunk, starts to climb up, and gets to the lowest branch. She realizes it is not too sturdy and goes back down.
Again, she looks at the tree, walks around the perimeter and along the trunk. She tried a couple of different times to climb it and fell back. Now, she’s antsy and scared to try again.
The reason she wants up is because there are apples up there and she wants to eat one. This next time, she gets to the lowest branch, then follows another branch to a bunch of different branches. It didn’t work. So, she went down.
As she sat for a while, she realizes there is a small branch up there that has apples on it and she decides to shake it. The apples fell off and they are on the ground.
Now, she can get them! She starts to eat one. Then, a squirrel came along and got one and took off! She was hurrying to eat hers because she wanted another one. Again, the squirrel came and took another one! Gruffy was having a good time eating the two apples on the ground. She ate the one and started the second one.
Chewing, chewing, chewing away, she was getting tired as she finished that one. So, she thought she would go down to the ground and stay and rest a bit on the grass. Her stomach was full.
While Gruffy was resting, she heard the chattering of THAT squirrel! She also saw birds and tried to get them but wasn’t fast enough.
Next, she got up on a big, thick branch and ate more apples. Her tummy was once again full.
Looking up at the tree, Gruffy maybe wants another apple for later. She goes back up and gets one for later in the day. She likes her apples – the sweet liquid, bites with her teeth and chews up the white inside of the apple. She never runs out of them.
After a while, she ate her last apple she got off of the tree. She eats her apples f-a-s-t! She attacks them. She’s really full, takes a nap, and woke up. Eating knocks her out.
Gruffy doesn’t like to share her apples, especially with squirrels.
