When the two cars stopped at the light, Sadie Jo and Cubby Rex both immediately sniffed. There was something familiar in the air. They both recognized the smell of a like breed, another retriever was near! Heads out of the car windows, ready for the dog show that whey would be in at the neighborhood dog park Sadie Jo immediately recognized the scent of her good old pal, Cubby Rex (Cubby had been named REX by his dad/master, and Cubby by his child; he would answer to either call)
The two dogs gave a quick bark greeting, causing each of the drivers taking them to the dog show to react,
“We’re almost there Sadie Jo, almost there,” the lady who had adorned Sadie Jo with the stylish red bandana called to the excited retriever in the back seat.
“Settle down Rex!” snapped the man driving Cubby Rex, “You’ve got this in the bag, boy!”
A younger voice piped in, “Yeah, you got nothing to worry about Cubby!” the dog’s child chirped, he was as excited as his dog!
The two dogs looked at their respective people and shook their golden hair. “People,” they thought, People are so silly,”
The dogs were just happy to be going to the dog park to meet up with old pals; they were not worried about anything.
The dogs could smell the motor oil and gasoline fumes from all the cars around them; they each heard a car honking somewhere. Mostly they were sniffing each other from window to window. Cubby Rex and Sadie Jo are old friends from the dog park. They are both so happy and anxious to GET out and play at the dog park. Whenever they go in the car, ANYWHERE they are energized. They will be on their best behavior, hoping for a reward of a big juicy bone, sometimes when they are really well behaved that is the reward. It was going to be another great day at the dog park for two dog pals!
