This is a party. Gorgeous cakes. With all those cakes wouldn't you be happy? They are celebrating a birthday. Oh, I wish I was the one. Their names are Martha and Lucy. They know each other because they belong to the same church. They all live around here. It would make good sense for them to get along because they are working together, eating together and playing together. This is happening in 1945 and it's a long time ago. Patrick says it doesn't look that long ago to me. It was the year the war ended.
There are little children grabbing cakes. It's a pretty good spread. Some of the ones coming to the party have contributed to the party. If there is another party we ought to go but we don't know where it is. We would have to ask.
We would hear children talking to each other and talking above each other, women talking to each other and crying. The little children are crying, one has an ice-cream and is crying. He is looking straight at the cakes and they're still cooking. In the big bowl is soup, rice soup. There is sweet food there.
The weather is very nice, a bit cool because they have jackets on. All the cakes are homemade. We wish they have a good happy party.
