What is home? Home to me is everything good and wonderful in my memories. It is putting the key in the lock and watching the door open. Home is a sense of belonging...it is a state of being accepted. It is the place we all want to get to at some time in our lives. Home is knowing where everything is kept and not having to look everywhere because what you're looking for is always kept in the same place. It is being able to go back in your memories and picture things that happened. It is Saturday mornings listening to Bluegrass music and the smell of Pinesol because the house was cleaned from top to bottom on that day. Home is the smell of clean sheets hung on the clothesline outside to dry. Home is where you learn to cook, clean, iron, wash dishes, dust, sweep, make a bed, and fold clothes. Home is the memory of filling a sprinkling bottle with water and sprinkling my dad's white shirts, rolling them, and putting them in a plastic bag in the refrigerator so my mom could iron them when she came home. It is sitting down at the table for every meal, saying the blessing, and hearing what went on in everyone's life that day. It is cleaning your plate if you want dessert. It is doing your homework from school around that same table. Home is the college of life where you learn to be the person you are going to be when you grow up. It is the opportunity to take the good into your home as an adult. Home is truly where your heart is.
