By the storytellers of The Huntington
Once upon a time there's a lady on a motorcycle.
She might not be a lady.
She has her goggles and her crash helmet and she has spotted fever.
That cap at any speed is gonna fly right off her head.
It's Betty - she's gonna take a ride.
She's looking for a big car or truck so she can get on the road.
Betty's been dumped: she looks sad.
She's going to visit her mother in The Huntington.
She's gettin' out of town: there's some stores and stuff.
Betty's hopin' the guy who dumped her will change his mind last minute.
She's looking back at the police cruiser that's after her - she didn't put her goggles on!
It's summer, going toward late afternoon.
Her work, could it be a taxi? A 3-seat taxi.
Makin' money maybe: she doesn't like it.
Betty wants her boyfriend back.
She wanted to be a jockey. She couldn't 'cause she couldn't ride a horse.
Her boyfriend we call Loser.
We'll call him Louie the Loser.
The entry on the upper left side, everybody seems to be walking into a show. There's an ad up at the top.
Louie got her the job - he drives taxis.
She was giving fare drives on a 3-seat bike.
This is her day off.
You've got a crowd, they're gonna be talking.
Is there a vendor selling ice cream?
The top of her head there's a white spot - an antenna maybe.
Betty's boyfriend dumped her because she's not wearing her engagement ring.
They won't get back together.
She wants to run away - she's taken the motorcycle and he's really upset.
With that outfit she's got she's gonna be in the Kentucky Derby: she love's horsin' around.
But the horses went out to pasture.
Betty's an only child: she lives at The Huntington with her mother, Maude.
Maude is thrilled about Betty's career, glad she's employed.
I think Maude wants to ride the motorcycle.
Betty lives in the closet because she's not old enough to be here.
Betty wants a new boyfriend with money, a generous guy who has a lot of money.
She wants security.
She's very happy about her living conditions - it's a walk-in closet about the size of this room.
She has a very apprehensive look on her face.
Next is uncertainty.
Betty's looking back before she takes off to see whether the boyfriend is gonna change his mind.
Then she got pregnant and was worried about it.
In the end, they were all very happy to be here.
They all lived happily ever after.
