Jessica was the centre of the attention of
the baby show. Many of the other babies in the neighborhood with their mothers,
aunties and the neighborhood ladies were showing off their babies. Jessica was
tired of being the #1 baby, so she took off her fancy dress. All that she had
on was her diaper and her frilly bloomers. She felt better!! No fancy clothes
Grandma had just arrived and left a bag on
the veranda. She was interrupted and Jessica climbed into her open bag. It was
94° F outside. It was hot!!!
Jessica has a mischievous look on her face
because she found grandma ‘s prized, blue ribbon pickles in the bag. Jessica was happy because mom would let her
have a cold Dill pickle to chew on. Mom said that it helped cut her new teeth.
Jessica’s big brother, Dustin, found her in
the bag. Dustin was worried about the jars of pickles, so he bent down and
picked her up. But the bag fell over and the jars of pickles fell out and
rolled down the steps. Bump! Bump! Bump!
Dustin’s face went blank because grandma was just coming out of the kitchen
with the bowl, for the pickles, for the guests. The jars hit the ground and
made a crushing noise but only one jar broke. The pickles were in distress and
gushed out of the jar.
Grandma came out and saw the mess and
everyone started explaining. When the
people told grandma that Jessica was in her bag smiling. Grandma said, “Why are
