Ladies on Bikes

So many different age groups. There are men and women, 1,2,3,4 men. Everyone is wearing slacks or shorts, it is summer, sunny outside, everyone is wearing sunglasses. Most are riding three wheeler bikes. There is a motel in the background and the car doesn't look too new. Reminds me of my grandmother's car. This picture is from awhile ago, late 30s-40s. Maybe 50s. It is a station wagon, maybe even the 60s. This is definately a get-together. They gathered at the motel. The people belong to a grange. They are at the motel for a grange conference. The men discuss planting. They are in the midwest, in Iowa. Maybe they are having a race.
They are going to a grove on a picnic. There are a variety of trees, mostly maple, close to a stream, with picnic tables and a fireplace. They'll all be talking, telling about families, and showing pictures of grandkids. There will be no smart phones. There won't be much business discussed. There will be music - someone brought a guitar. Definately a sing along, "On top of old Smokey, all covered in snow, I lost my true lover...". Somebody will be there with food, barbeque chicken. It smells fresh, smokey and fishy. There are tablecloths on the tables and potato salad, baked beans and watermelon. They will have a seed spitting contest. They will have corn on the cob cooked in a BIG kettle delivered by a farmer.
They will have chocolate cake for dessert and sing "Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer true, I'm half crazy all for the love of you..." as they ride back to the motel.
