Life is Strange but Beautiful by the storytellers at St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care
She's playing a guitar. She's sitting on a bench. Her legs are crossed. She might be a one-man band. She's a singer. Her name is Guitar Lady.
She plays fast songs--blues and rock and roll. She plays on a park bench and maybe at a club. She sings about everyday life. She could be having trouble with men, of course.
She could be in California where it's hot. She seems happy. She's planning something--a trio. She's rehearsing for a performance at a night club in California. People who come out the club will be there and directors too.
She'll perform some of her favorite songs. Down home blues. Low and sexy. We feel in between sad and happy when we hear the blues. Some people like the music kids listen to or church music like "Amazing Grace." (we sing Amazing Grace together) That song will be going for a long time. I'll be sitting in an alley somewhere singing that song.
Her father gave her that guitar. She said, "I can play it, daddy." Her daddy is a musician. He plays the blues. They both play the same kind of music.
Her real name is Tray Lynn. She was born in the south--Memphis. A lot of us were born down south and came up here when we got free. When we saw how it was we wanted to go home. A lot of people here now want to go home. Everybody always wants to go back to their origination.
(We talked about where we were born--Milwaukee, Tanzania, Puerto Rico, Alabama, Arkansas, Chicago, and Mississippi.)
