Little Ones First
This is in Washington D.C. or Lake Arrowhead and this is some sort of committee meeting having to do with foods that they are trying to take to market. They are trying to push a food Bill through. They are also going to have a dinner: a fun, loveable event with all the people and children around. A festival!
This is a local event and there are families, church people, and neighbors there, as well as people who like to help others. This is a place where they can give help. They’re feeding people who don’t have much to live on. There are also grocers and bakers there, a company called “Eaters,” and other big stores like Safeway.
The two ladies in front are named Mary and Martha Sue and they are workers from Safeway. Mary is from Nebraska and Martha Sue is from Minnesota. Today, they’re giving out the food and people are lining up for it.
Mary and Martha Sue are shy, but they both want to be first in getting their food. They are last year’s chili cook-off winners (even though their chili is too hot). Mary and Martha Sue have an idea of what they want to do with the festival. But they’re hungry, because everyone else is eating all the food.
Mary and Martha Sue are married to Dick and Arnold and they each have 10 children. All the children could be in jail, because they weren’t taught right by their parents. But that’s not really possible – all 20 children can’t be in jail! Instead, they are all at the festival with their parents. Their dads are watching out for the children and they’re happy to do so, since they love them so much.
There are sounds of people chewing [gums smacking]. Sounds like they’re chewing on rocks! And the sounds of parents settling their children down and getting them something to eat. You can hear children saying, “Mommy, where’s my food?” People are also talking about who they are and where they come from.
Next, all the people will eat. The children will wait and wait until their names are called to eat, but it won’t take too long. Then there will be a big vote – the Bill will pass and go on to the Senate or another committee. Mary and Martha Sue will help others get food and then they’ll be off on another campaign. The people who are here will want to continue helping others.
