Oh, that’s good! He’s lovely. He looks like a boy. He’s very clever and he’s showing off.
His name is Thomas Roberto. He’s under six months old. He’s in a bag—Grandfather’s bag—like Isabel’s grandfather’s bag. Thomas saw the bag and he liked the look of it and crawled inside.
How happy he looks, so pleased with himself. He’s gorgeous! It’s surprising how quickly they learn—how to push himself along. He’s well covered—an aristocratic little bundle! The little boy has come from Moscow. That’s why he looks like an aristocrat. It makes Maria jealous!
Thomas’s father is taking a picture of him because he’s so proud of him. He’s a happy child. “There’s something he wants to do, but he’s not telling,” says Ellen. Nobody else knows. He’s done something, because he looks cheeky and naughty. He’s proud of it! He thinks it’s funny.
Thomas’s mum could be off doing the ironing and washing, or shopping. Thomas isn’t wearing clothes, just a nappy. The father is left to look after him, but Thomas is having fun. Maybe Dad is letting him do things that Mum wouldn’t. Dad was a boy once, so he knows what the little boy is going through.
When Mum comes back she’ll be glad that Thomas looks happy and she’ll put pretty clothes on him—clothes for a boy. She’ll dress him up and give him a cuddle. After lunchtime, the mother, who is named Dimitra, will put Thomas in a pushchair and go out to the shops. She can place the shopping under the chair.
There’s not another boy like him! The mother will make Thomas comfortable and she’ll put him down for a sleep. She’ll have time to wash up and put on her makeup. After that, Thomas will wake up looking fresh so he can do more things. In the photo, the little boy is looking at you as if to say: “Look at me, I’m here!”
