It is a birthday gathering for Gordon and a few of his closest chums. They all live near each other on the big island of Hawaii. Gordon is turning nine today and his mom has arranged for ice cream for all of his pals. Jerry and Bob are putting on a show of fisticuffs. The sparring feat is obviously a false fight, we can tell by the smiles on the boys faces. It is a summer day in 1990. The boys are in an enclosed area; mom knows they cannot get out because of the block fence around the beach. Oh no, young Henry is crying because he dropped his ice cream, EVERYONE can hear his wails mixed in with the crashing ocean waves and laughter of beach goers. Henry is the youngest of Gordon's friends, just six years old.
The boys are smelling hot dogs from a nearby vendor selling on the beach. Luckily for them, Ralph, the photographer Gordon's mom hired to take photos has offered to buy hot dogs for all of the party goers. It might by just to shush Henry over the lost ice cream, but, who cares? Hot dogs for all!
` Gordon, the birthday boy is ducking down to avoid getting his picture taken but Jerry and Bob are delighted to have their boxing prowess recorded. The boys, aging in age from six to nine are having a wonderful day at the beach, all are grateful for Gordon's birthday invite.
