This man is Pete, and he is very happy, excited, and energetic, because he just got a raise! He is skipping and turning cartwheels. This is in New York, and he is just about to get married, and start a family, so he will be able to provide for his wife and family very well.
Not only did he just get a raise, but he also just found $500 on the street! He can hear people yelling, sirens screaming, cars driving by, as he picks up this wad of money. His mind is spinning, as he tries to make a decision about what to do with this crazy amount of money. "Should I take it to the police? Should I tell my fiance'? I could really use this money, but I was so fortunate to have just gotten a raise. Maybe it's a test."
Pete feels very confused, and stressed, because this could affect the rest of his life. Right before this all happened, he was feeling so sorry for himself. He had no money, and didn't know how he was going to take care of himself and his wife. Now, he has all this money, and doesn't know what to do.
The people around him are oblivious to his situation, and the chaos going on in his mind. They all have their own lives, and are so busy. No one is watching. No one would care if he kept it. Well, maybe someone would.
Just then, someone tries to rob him and say it's their money. They have a gun, and are demanding to have it. Pete is scared. He tries to explain to the robber that he found it, and was going to take it to the police. But they have a gun, so he just gives the money to the robber. As the robber gets away, the police pull up with sirens, grab the robber, and cuff him, because he had just robbed the bank down the street, and they had been looking for him.
