Queen Isabella loved to take a vacation from her royal duties to party like a commoner in New Orleans during Mardi Gras every year. Queen Isabella had been the ruler of Sweden for 37 years. It was a taxing job, but somebody had to do it. About 12 years into her reign, an American politician visiting the palace told her of the marvelous events that took place in New Orleans. Isabella could not believe her ears and decided she must see it for herself. That very next March she hopped on a plane and flew herself to America (she had her pilot's license of course). Knowing that she would be recognized, Isabella picked up a red wig and sequined mask from the local dollar store. She blended right into the crowd. The music, food, and bead throwing had Isabella enchanted... and slightly horrified. She vowed to return the very next year, and had done so ever since. Queen Isabella never considered herself a "party girl," but once a year, she would don the red wig and mask that she kept hidden in the very back of her closet and have a little fun. While Queen Isabella never revealed to anyone her Mardi Gras secret, those that caught on firmly believed it was what made her the best Queen of all time.
