Ethel and her friend Dora were both at a nursing home in Oklahoma. They were very good friends and spend all their days together. Ethel and Dora were reminiscing about Easter and eventually they began to talk of lent, ash Wednesday and of course fat Tuesday. Fat Tuesday was also Mardi Gras and they spoke of all the stories they heard of New Orleans and the Mardi Gras celebration. Dora and Ethel looked at each other and finally Ethel said, "let's go, why not." Dora still had her car, so off to New Orleans the two of them went.
Upon arrival, they couldn't believe all the people that they saw. Dora and Ethel ran into the first shop they saw and grabbed a mask and some beads and flowers to dress up with. They put on their new attire and started to walk the crowded streets. Eventually Ethel sat on a bench and just enjoyed people watching. It was so much fun seeing all the costumes and crazy outfits people were wearing. Ethel and Dora spent two days in New Orleans and what an adventure they had.
