Mary On the Farm
By the Ladies of One Centre
She looks like she is looking for something, the little girl. She looks like she may be lost. She is gathering eggs. The girls name is Mary. Shes in the barn with her little smock on, she could be feeding the chickens and she has shoes on her feet. There is a chicken there, his name is Percy. The barn is in the country, in Nova Scotia. What are they doing in the barn ? Collecting eggs of course. Mary might be planting things, some seeds to grow up. She might have a vegetable garden. Shes all alone right now and she is planting and digging up all the things she needs to do. Her mom and dad are out for a drive. She has four siblings. She has two sisters and 2 brothers. She is little and too small to work on anything too physical. Mary leaves that to her brothers and labourers. Mary is six or seven years old. She might go over and pick berries next. She’s going to share them with her family. She has a bag full of chicken feed for the chickens. She’s happy that she achieved what she set out to do. She can do whatever she wants and might grow up to work on the farm. But for now she will be a beautiful little girl.
