Herman was the newest occupant in the house and lived with two cats that held residency with Herman’s new family for a long time. Herman was a rescue dog; he wasn’t real old, probably about eight months old. The people who let him go did a cruel thing and left him on the side of the road because Herman didn’t behave well. A family passed by in their car, saw the poor little dog shivering on the side of the road and took pity on him. The family took him home.
Because Christmas was coming, the family had their untrimmed tree set up in the living room with presents wrapped and sitting under the tree. The two kittens were resting by the tree when they saw Herman enter their domain. Herman never liked cats, so upon seeing them he took off and started chasing them round and round the tree. As you can guess...BANG -- his tail hit the tree too hard, and Herman knocked it over!
Upon hearing the loud crash, the family rushed into the living room to find Herman sitting innocently on the rug next to the tree. The Tabby Cat knew that she would look guilty for this disaster even though she had no part in it. She thought to herself, I better not take the blame for this! The little girl of the house ran over to Tabby, picked her up and promised “I know this wasn’t your fault, Tabby.”
