Dapper looks like he's on something. He looks like he found something or he's stepping on his dinner plate. There are a lot of shoes. He's ready. He hears something and he thinks, "It's mine". He's cute! He is there guarding the shoes.
This is in a shoe store in NY some afternoon in June 1920 or 2011. He's listening to some kind of music, a whistle, and people.
I think he's looking at another dog so they could go play. The look in his eye says, "Come on. I'm ready to go. Let's have some fun up and down the street." There is barking of another dog. "Well?" he says. Dapper is saying, "Well? You want to come play too?" to other dogs he sees. It's an open space.
There might be other people since it's a shoe store. Maybe there’s a salesman selling shoes. Dapper guards the shoes. There are a few on the floor. There have been many robberies in the area. Sometimes big dogs come and beat Dapper up so they can steal the shoes so they have something to chew on. The big dogs also rob his dinner plate because there is food in his plate. The salesmen don't want the dog food, it's the other dogs that do.
It smells like a shoe store, like a family shoe store. It smells like leather. It's stinky. People go in with their terribly dirty and smelly feet. Dapper likes smelly feet. He runs around the store sniffing people’s socks and gets excited.
When the owner returns, the owner says, "Dapper what are you up to?" Dapper gives her a cockhead look. Dapper says, "Come on let's play". Dapper doesn't want to get hit because he messed up the store and says, "Come let's play!" The owner picks everything up, puts it back, and sweeps the store. "Well Dapper mom was right. I wanted a dog and I have one."
