They were big cars and there were plenty of them, offered Bob
Stock agents used them said Andrew and mine was blue and white
You could travel for miles in comfort said Janet
Let’s go somewhere in this one I said in an effort to get away from only the memories
We could go on holidays, said Vale and we could take all the kids
The kids never used any belts and used to sleep on the floor, said Andrew
We could drive to Sydney, said Vale, and we could drive across the bridge.
Everyone would wave, Coral said, because they like to see cars like that
They smelled of leather said Bob
They smelled like new cars used to smell, said Barry. The went very fast and were quiet too
This car belongs to someone who is a farmer, said Janet. Farmers love these big cars
The kids drive it when dad isn’t watching said Bob
Up and down the lane said Barry. They’re little b…s because they pinch the car all the time.
They drive it into town sometimes, said Janet. Not the kids, the mums and dads and they take the kids.
The kids don’t wear belts added Andrew and the drop their lolly papers on the floor
The spill their drinks on themselves when we go over the bumps, said Janet and it takes forever to get the stains out.
Vale said that the dog sometimes comes and that he has to have the window down
We take the car into town to get supplies, said Bob and we have to fill up the boot (trunk) and sometimes there’s too much so it goes inside with the kids
There are four kids and a dog and sometimes the bird said Vale
The bird flew out the window said Andrew and he got home before anyone else.
Don’t give the kids ice-cream because it melts all over the seats, said Barry. The kids have to eat their ice-cream when they’re in town.
Giant twins, said Andrew, Giant Twin chocolate ice-creams and they taste great. (he grins and says, ‘can’t eat ‘em now though. Too much sugar’) Kids love Giant Twins he added
It’s a hot day, says Janet and we travel with the windows all down
Vale laughs and said that’s why the bird got home first
Coral said that the car was blue and white and shined a lot when the sun was out
Coral said, also ‘we had a car like that. Blue and white and shiny.
They were shiny, said Bob. They were great cars and the farmers drove them
They had a big engine, said Andrew and they sounded great.
I’d like to go to Sydney in that car, says Vale softly. Yes, she added, when prompted, all the kids and Bill and I and we will go to Sydney for a holiday
We will go to the beach, said Vale and watch the kids play
There’s lots of traffic in Sydney, said Barry. Lots of cars.
There is a lot of noise in the city said Coral and lots of people too
That’s a blue car, adds Coral, and people wave.
We’ll have a lovely holiday, says Vale and we go anywhere we want
That’s a big car, said Bob.
