John is at the cape.He is remembering his life of many years ago.He is an old man now, his younger years are only memories. Some good, some sad.He can hear the ocean sounds as the sea splashes to the shore. He is alone now, family grown and gone.He wonders about the life he led and the choices he made. His road traveled his decisions made. What would he or could he have changed? He can smell the salt sea air, it gives him comfort. The cape had always been his safe haven, having spent all his summers here as a young man.A boat comes into sight. He wonders if the people on the boat are celebrating a special occasion or just out for an afternoon sail.He has chosen this spot on the shore for quiet time he needs to heal the pain of a life in it's winter years. What would he have done differently, and what would that have changed? He must be content today because yesterday is gone forever. In his heart he knows he was a good man loved by a family who were blessed to call him "DAD".
