It’s taking place in America—the cars tell us.
Is it a him or a her? Oh, it’s a her! It’s a girl in the pouring rain and she’s very young. She’s walking around in the rain. She’s got a handbag and an umbrella. She’s got a smile on her face. She’s happy about something. She’s happy because she’s got an umbrella!
Someone could ring her up and say: “What’s your problem?”
Her name is Beryl. She might be going out to meet her boyfriend. Oh, yes! Hopefully, he’s not in one of those cars, while she’s out in the rain.
She’s happy because she’s got a smile on her face. According to Maria, she’s “rare to Perens”.
Beryl’s going to meet her boyfriend in a restaurant. It’s in New York. She’s “Miss Hellas”—a beauty queen.
We wonder what type of restaurant they will go to? “Hopefully one with a roof,” says Isobel!
Beryl might have gone to meet the boyfriend, but he might have gone out for a few beers! What’s unusual about that? “It worries me,” says Bill, “but I’d cry about it. It’s alright when you’re young to go and have a few beers.”
Yianni (John) thinks the boyfriend will be there, but we don’t know! Bill says he’d like the girls to understand that the boys are good fellows. But Elsie and Isobel aren’t sure!
Beryl is in a hurry, but we don’t know if the boyfriend will be there. If he’s late, Elsie says she wouldn’t stand for that!
Beryl might join her boyfriend. She’s enjoying herself and whatever he does she’s happy to accept—most of it!
Bill sings a song: “Where have you been Billy Boy, Billy Boy? Oh, where have you been Silly Billy”!
Maria sings: “Don’t cry for me, Argentina”!
Beryl might tell her big brother when she sees him.
We’ve got the girl but there’s no boy. She’s in a hurry to get there. Yet she might be late herself.
She’s singing in the rain!
