There is sand and recreational chairs for sun bathing. Clara and Elizabeth have been out for a stroll on the beach and now they are out of the sun in the shade. That is a strange chair is all I can say! Maybe it swings and maybe it doesn't because its feet go into the sand. Clara looks very happy. She just told a joke I guess. Elizabeth looks like a stern school teacher. She is taking it all in as she is writing a book. They are obviously friends. Clara and Elizabeth were at church. They have their Sunday clothes on. I mean the hats! The whole shabang! Look at those skirts! It is the 1920s and the skirt must weigh 10 lbs! It is hot and they Clara and Elizabeth decided they neede to stay out fo the sun in the shade. These young ladies are relaxing taking in the scenery because it is so hot out and it was uncomfortable walking in those big hats and skirts... and look at those shoes! The buildings behind and off the beach are interesting. Clara and Elizabeth are out in the city for the first time and then decided to go to the beach and rest their feet because they have been walking so much. They are having a couplke Manhattans too. I wonder who the empty chair is for?
Who is coming to occupy the empty chair? They may be waiting for someone as they sip their Manhattans. They listen to sounds on the beach: people running around, playing, vactioning and watch the boats going by in the water. Clara and Elizabeth are staying at the hotel behind them and decided to get in the shade as they talk, "Last night my husband and I were taking a walk and we got lost! That was the stupidest thing! We are not going to do that again." These friends are thinking of what they will do next and they are going to tell the whole world. (facilitated by Dalilah & Angela and told by 4 residents)
