There are two 6th graders, John and Kevin, who are just about to get started with their snowball fight. It is around 10 in the morning, on a Wednesday, a schoolday at that! Both of the kids were excited to get a snow day after a snowstorm just passed by during the night, and after breakfast they rushed out to meet each other in their neighborhood. Kevin lived in the house at the corner of the street, which is where the schoolbus stop is and where he and John first met when John moved there 2 years ago. They both bonded over their love for cars, and both wished to be racecar drivers one day. Kevin was always the faster and stronger of the two, so John looked up to him, but they would also sometimes get into arguments over things like which NASCAR driver was better. But John had a mint collection of NASCAR driver cards that he collected as a 3rd grader which John envied. On this day they were arguing about who would win the upcoming race, and they got quite heated! They made a bet that whoever wins the snowball fight will bring good luck to their favorite race. John, knowing it would take a miracle to beat Kevin in the snowball fight, whistled to his dog "Acer" to assist him in the brawl. The snowball fight lasted for nearly half an hour with the two running and slipping on the fresh snow. Some of the snow was too deep and unshoveled, and as John tried to dodge Kevin's snowball he had tripped and fell. And that was when "Acer" came rushing in to block the attack from Kevin, who had a momentary pause. As Acer came rushing to John's rescue, Kevin got scared and dropped his snowball, and the two friends started laughing at their morning battle. Afterwards they went to grab hot chocolate and blueberry muffins at the cafe across the street before heading back home for lunch with their families.
