The boat is sailing on the China Sea into the Asian countries. There used to be many pirates on the South China Sea. Maybe the story happens in modern times, but the boat does not totally look like a modern ship. It is a romantic story.
The sailing boat, those name is the Santa Maria, is coming from the port of Gibraltar, and its final destination is the Philippines. The crew wants to trade spices. Ferdinand Magellan discovered the Philippines in 1521 AD, and the Santa Maria is now trading for the king of Spain.
The crew is formed by the captain, his mate, and the sailors. The captains’ name is Marco in memory of another great sailor: Marco Polo. Marco had to study the charts to be able to sail across the seas. The sailors are mainly talking about spices, precious metals, and diamonds. They are excited because they expect to make good money once they reach the Philippines.
On the boat you could hear the slapping sounds of the sails, the wind blowing, the cries of seagulls, and the talking of the Portuguese sailors.
Eventually they reach the Philippines safely. The boat did land.
