This is the story of Stella Lightfoot. She is an outgoing, athletically built, extrovert who cares about her looks. She loves adventure. After hitchhiking to Florida from Cleveland, today she is on the beach in Fort Lauderdale with her family. She is with her five grandkids who attend college in Florida and are on spring break. Three are playing frisbee with Stella, while some others are referees or medics.
Stella has a thing for lifeguards and is trying to get his attention with her frisbee skills.
She is having a wonderful time until her landing after this great catch results in a broken ankle and a hip. "This should get the lifeguard's attention," she thinks. And it does. Just imagine Stella's chagrin when he runs to help her and she discovers that it's another grandson that she didn't realize was there. Oh well, she thinks. She is still happy to see another grandchild.
When she gets through at the hospital and is sent to physical therapy, she meets a very nice widower who drives her home. While recuperating from her beach adventure she wrote a short story about hitchhiking down to Florida and it became a best seller!
