It was a rainy Wednesday in New York City. Steven's shoes had been ruined after a city bus drove through a big puddle of water and splashed him on the sidewalk. Steven was heading to a DMV apporintment when this happened. His fake leather shoes were destroyed and he needed new ones but the only place close to the DMV was a costime store. Steven had no choice but to buy a pair of gorilla costume shoes that were on sale. He threw his old shoes in the trash and put on his new shoes. He was late to his appointment so he took a number and had to wait with a small crowd of people. Everyone stared at his shoes and Steven started to feel very embarrased. The little girl sitting next to him kept pointing at the shoes and repeated to her mom, "Mommy, what are those?" He waited for 40 minutes before his name was called. As he walked to the front, people pointed and whispered at his shoes so he picked up his pace and walked quickly to the window he had been called to. Once his appointment was over, Steven quickly left and hopped on the bus home, only to find that more people on the bus were pointing and staring at his new shoes.
