The whole village gathered on Saturday for the annual bake off fundraiser. Margaret and Edna have been battling for the first prize for the past decade. The bake off is for a good cause, the proceeds from the competition help to support the village's animal rescue center. However, just because it is a charitable event, doesn't mean there isn't room for some healthy competition! Last year Margaret won the blue ribbon with her maple glazed butter cakes, but the previous year Edna was the crowd favorite with her blueberry lemon tarts. Neither one of the two have had the pleasure of winning two years in a row, and the rest of the village has resigned themselves to the fact that third place was the new first place because the two would always and forever would take the top two spots. Some of the other women in the village claim that Margaret and Edna should be barred from participation, especially after training in Paris under a master pastry chef. The funny thing is that they had their training together. This training is the very thing that fuels their competition, because even their teacher could not tell which woman did the superior job. This year Margaret and Edna took a hint from the other women from the village, and decided to help judge the event. They decided a ten year battle was long enough, and they were together the best bakers of the village. It was time to give someone else a chance at victory.
