He got into the cookies, and he's into the jam too. The dog looks hopeful.
This boy is Bobby Jack and he is trying to fool his mother - he hopes. The dog's name is "Boy" and he wants a bite too.
Mom is making more cookies. When Dad finds Bobby Jack he'll say, "Don't suck your thumb" but he has to lick his fingers because they're covered with jam. Dad may also say, "The cookies are too tempting."
When Mom finds him she'll say, "You clean this mess up." Bobby Jack is hiding so the dog, or his brothers and sisters don't get any cookies.
Bobby Jack is not in school today because he pretended to be sick. His corduroy pants are torn and his hands and face are dirty from crawling and climbing over and through a fence. Bobby Jack is 6 or 7 years old, and "Boy" the dog might be younger.
See his eyes? He hears Dad coming. Dad says, "What are you doing?" and Bobby Jack says, "Mom's cookies taste sooo goood."
Dad says, "You tore your pants. How?" "Me?" says Bobby Jack. "I fell over the fence and caught my pants on a nail. I got hurt! The nail scratched me." He looks sad. Dad probably remembers stuff like that.
