The Boy and the Gnome
“Aren’t they cute?”
He’s cuddling the gnome. His name is John and he’s about four years old. It’s taking place in a park. “John’s parents wouldn’t be far away,” says Lance. “They’d have to be there,” says Paul.
John’s happy. He’s got something! He is cute.
It’s a national park, in Australia. They’re in the park because the family loves doing things. “The gnome is there as just a bit of composition,” says Margaret.
The weather looks fine but we would hear wind. It would make noise and John would hear it and be happy. John is very clever, like Maria! She wishes she had a brother like him.
It doesn’t look like many kids are there. John is waiting for lots of them to arrive. Elsie notes that it looks like John walked off the path. He’s fallen in love with the gnome! It is very pretty.
Ellen thinks his brothers and sisters might be nearby. He’s only young. It looks like John wants to take the “Santa Claus” home, but it’s too heavy. He can’t lift it! Our John thinks the gnome looks like Santa Claus. It has a beard like Santa! “The gnome has big feet,” says Elsie.
We think John might be upset to be going home and to leave the gnome. George thinks John’s parents will have to drag him away! Of course, they will do something afterwards. He’s a nice boy and because he’s only small, very small, his parents can’t leave him there with the gnome.
Afterwards, John will make his dad go to the shops and buy him a lolly. John has a very good heart and would share with others. He’s very handsome, like Johnny O’Keefe and like Paul!
