Her name is Christine and she is playing the guitar. The music is rhythm and blues like Muddy Waters. It’s the fall of September. She is about 21-22 and she’s single, free, no babies to cook for, wash for . . . looks like she’s got herself a good life and no one to argue with! She is sitting where the trees and leaves are in Southern Illinois and it’s 1975. She likes that. It’s her thing, her day!! It’s the backyard at her grandparent’s house and their names are Icyphine and her husband Milus. Christine grew up with her parents. She was once married and divorced. Now she’s livin’ a single life and is happy! She hopes for grandchildren. She is feeling blue, “low down and blue” like the song says. He left me with three kids and no food in the house and that’s way down. She is playing for her friends, relatives and cousins. Especially her best friend in the whole world Wilma who is from Magnolia, Mississippi. They are both from there and went to school together. Her clothes are from Goodwill and are made of flower-sack material. There is a snowflake design with a blue sky on her guitar. She loves her guitar, it’s her baby. She’s had it since she was ten. After her music playing she will make a meal, lay the kids down and go to bed.
