Looks like a boat steering wheel. It's a cotton picker. Or an airplane - looks like an upper wing - and she looks like Amelia Earhart. Her name is Jane and she is twenty-three. She is going to fly it. She'll need her cotton basket, cotton has burrs, they hurt. That's a cotton shed in the background. It's an open cockpit, maybe she sprays tobacco. She needs a parachute. She never picked cotton. Daddy says work or else! It beats working on the farm.
You can hear:
Dust and the Earth
Must be the twenties or thirties.
The seventies was the first one. A prototype.
She won't do this forever. She'll get married and leave home. Work in the city. Marry one of them men. Raise a family. Looks like a good girl to be a mom. Raising a family is the biggest...she'll have four kids. Her kids will say, "Momma you worked so hard. You were brave to try new inventions. You taught us the value of a dollar". They will keep going out to the country to visit grandparents. The kids will learn that it was a lot of fun even though you had to work hard. It built character.
