The stadium announcer, Mr. John Madden, begins hyping up the crowd, "The time is 1:00pm... Ladies and Gentleman... START, YOUR, ENGINES!!! The object here is for the contestant to fly as far as possible, by leaving the ground before the starting line, and our judges will measure where you land. Now, each contestant has made their own machine, and the one with the longest measured distance is the winner! Okay everyone, lets cheer them on!"
The crowd roared as the competitors lined up behind the starting line. The sound of loud engines, cheering, and whistling filled the stadium air. The smell of gasoline, burnt rubber, hot dogs, smoke, and popcorn filled the air.
After a long pause, Mr. Madden continued his announcement, "First up, is Alice the "Wheeler" Turnplatt from Baltimore, Scotland, and she is making her flying debut. Lets hear it for her!"
