Oscar the mailman goes out into the cold, walking up and down the streets delivering letters and packages on Christmas Eve 1940. Oscar is 58 years old and has been delivering mail for many years. He is a very jolly fellow and enjoys his job. It is a brisk sunny day, about 25 degrees above zero. Oscar doesn’t even need his mittens or hat. He is looking at the present wondering what is inside when he realized he forgot to pick up a gift for his girlfriend! The lady inside the house is listening to “Jingle Bells.” The children in the brick house across the street are anxiously waiting for Oscar to come to their house next. Oscar loves delivering mail to the families in Fargo, ND. The families are very grateful for his dedication; they often give him gifts of chocolate and cookies for all his hard work. At the end of the day Oscar enjoys warming up by his fireplace and spending time with his family playing a good game of bridge.
