The little boy’s name is Timmy. He is hugging an elf. The elf’s name is Danny Boy. They are just acquaintances. Danny Boy is trying to teach Timmy some sense. Timmy thinks he might get some of Danny Boy’s pop! He’s hugging him to get the pop. Danny Boy likes to dance and be merry! “I hope he keeps his hat on while he’s doing the dancing!” Timmy is wondering what to say to him. Timmy says, “Let’s be friends.” The elf wants to do adventurous stuff. They go down the road and wonder what’s at the end of the road. Danny Boy thinks he has a good friend and wants to protect him because he is little. They find other elves at the end of the road eating ice cream cones. Danny Boy and Timmy get ice cream cones, too, and go dancing. They dance to merry music. They do “dosey doe,” a square dance. The other elves decide to join them. Timmy wants to know all of the elves. He invites them to share their company. They ride bicycles down to the creek to see if there are any fish. They find some fish. They find a fishing pole and fish the fish out of the creek. Then they all fall in. They find a stranger to help them cook the fish. They eat the fish after they clean, fillet, and cook them. The fish aren’t very big so it’s more like a snack. Mom wanders down the road looking for Timmy. Mom finds the elves in the creek with Timmy and has to get them out. The elves see mom and run away. They run to the woods. Mom takes Timmy by the hand and goes back down the road. “That’s enough of that!” They go home and the elves go back home, too. Timmy wants to see the elves once more, so…a good time was had by all. And he sees the elves when he sees them. A good time is always had by all.
