The Mail Carrier at Christmas Time
(Told by Clients at an Adult Day Center in Louisiana)
The man’s name is George, said Ms. M. He’s a mailman and he is delivering packages
He’s a mail carrier; said Mr. T. George is sorting out mail
The mailman looks happy to me, said Ms. D
I think that he is feeling good, said Ms. M
He looks like he is pleased with everything, said Ms. DB
This is happening at Christmas time, said Ms. D
And it looks like the mail carrier is at somebody’s house, said Mr. T
There are in New Jersey, said Ms. DB
And its cold and snowing, said Ms. M.
There’s a pretty Christmas wreath on the door, Said Mr. H.
I bet there are Christmas presents in the packages because this is Christmas
Mr. E. said it could be candy in the packages
Ms. D said because it’s Tuba Jack-Jack (while clapping her hands together)
Ms. M said, “I think it’s a sweater in the box because it’s cold outside.”
Switch……Switch……..Soooooooh…..the wind is blowing
It’s cold and snowing, whooooooo, said Ms. M
I’m hearing Christmas Spirits, said Mr. T. and singing songs like Silent Night, said Ms. E. and Joy to the World.
Let’s stay for the whole week, said Ms. D.
The mailman is bring packages to me, said Ms. DB
He’s delivering presents to first graders, said Mr. T or to his friends, said Ms. E
Well, all of the people are feeling good, said Ms. M. The first graders are feeling good too, said Mr. T
They feel wonderful and that’s right, said Ms. M and Ms. D.
Ms. DB and Ms. M said that the people getting the presents are joyous and Happy.
Boo-dapa-Boo-dapa-Doo – People start singing, said Ms. D.
I’m going to open all of my presents. I’m so happy, said Ms. E.
They are going to sing Christmas songs all day long, said Ms. E
