It’s Christmas, Dec. 25th, and there’s snow on the ground, a wreath, the porch and icicles. It’s cold, chilly and winter. “You won’t be outside long.”
The man is a nice man, a mail man, sorta good-looking, and maybe works on the farm. His name is Charlie.
The packages may have nuts, candy, any kind of candy, or chocolate. The dog will check to see if there are mice in the packages. Maybe there are toys for the mouse because they are little. Maybe it’s a rubber train or something that moves. The packages are from friends with some refills.
The man is going door to door, to the neighbor’s house. He’s gonna be back and forth. Some of them will go all the way through. It’s near the cornfields, the barn and other buildings. He might be thinking of cutting corn. There’ll be corn for Christmas dinner and lots of food. He wants to be first in line when the mouse comes out. (There's a mini-story by one of the tellers about a mouse going up the pants and a dog).
He is giving a package to his girlfriend He’s smiling. He has hit the nail on the head!
