The Penguiness
Once upon a time on an iceberg far far away two penguins sat gazing at the beautiful sunset Pondering the meaning of life and whether they would finally meet their fate.
Harriet and bill had known each other since they where tiny pups frolicking on the frozen vastness of the Alaskan tundra. Bill gently took Harriet's flipper and softly consoled her. Harriet gave Bill a warm smile.
"Don't fret, my dear". Said Bill. "Humans never come out this far. Besides we can out swim them."
suddenly and without warning a shot rang out. Harriet Flinched.
Bill tightened his grip on Harriet's other flipper. Bill gently nudged her off of the iceberg and into the icy, deep, blue water. Bill scanned the horizon, looking for the source of the noise.
"Bill, humans! Bill, humans!" Harriet chirped frantically.
Bill smiled knowingly. Little did Harriet know, Bill was privy to the source of the sound, for he had heard it many years ago as a pup.
"Harriet, my dear" said Bill, "if you give me the distinct honor of being my penguiness, I will pull you from the water and never allow you to be in danger again."
"If you pull me from the water, my dear" said Harriet, "I will never leave your side as long as we live."
Bill directed her toward a naturally-carved stairway in the ice just feet from her.
"But what about the humans?" Harriet said.
Bill laughed and consoled her. "Harriet, my dear, it was I who made the noise."
"Oh, Bill!" Harriet chirped, smiling. "I will marry you if you promise to never do that again."
"Never again, my dear" said Bill.
Harriet and Bill leaped joyfully off the iceberg into the frigid water and swam happily off into the sunset, holding flipper in flipper.
They lived happily ever after. The end.
