They say, "The Postman Always Rings Twice", but not at our house. During this time of the year, the kids are always looking out the window, anxiously awaiting his arrival. Why, one day he just walked by with no mail whatsoever and the kids thought he must have forgotten our house and ran out the door calling, "Mr. Postman, Mr. Postman, you forgot to give us our mail." The postman replied, "No mail today Johnnie, maybe tomorrow." Well, the postman must have forgot it was Saturday and we all know the mail doesn't run on Sunday. Well, sure enough Sunday morning the kids were looking out the window, just waiting when I had to tell them, "Go on, get away from the window, the postman is not coming today." "But he promised," said Johnnie. "He promised?" I asked. "Well, not exactly but he said maybe tomorrow. I guess he forgot." Suddenly, the door bell rang, two times, and Johnnie got a big smile on his face and ran to the door but when he opened it, it was only his friend next door, not the postman. "Johnny, the postman doesn't deliver mail on Sunday, maybe he will tomorrow." Johnny smiled again and ran out the door to play with his friend.
