The Squirrel and the Little Kitty
Facilitated By Mary Ebel
July 27, 2016
There was a squirrel who climbed up onto the windowsill to see what was there for him to eat. He noticed some cashews and peanuts left by the people who live in the house. The squirrel ate them all up and went down to the ground. Much to his surprise the squirrel met a cat so he ran up the tree and finished eating what was in his mouth. The cat jumped onto the windowsill to see what was going on. He scared the squirrel. The cat just lay on the windowsill and wondered how he could make friends with the squirrel. The lady of the house helped the cat feel welcome and at home by letting him sleep indoors. So everyday the squirrel would watch the windowsill to see if the lady would leave more cashews and peanuts. The cat continued to rest. In comes the lady and on that day added more cashews and peanuts outside the window. Down the tree scrambled the squirrel. He collected his stash and took off running up the tree. This continued for quite some time, maybe several weeks. The next time the squirrel was on the windowsill the cat jumped up to meet the squirrel. It was a face-off: The cat smiled at the squirrel and the squirrel finshed eating. They both finally felt at home. The cat got very smart and shared in the feast. But the cat found chips and a piece of meat and wondered who left them. Both the cat and the squirrel started to laugh at eachother and while they were doing that a dog came along and ate the rest of the food.
