Our story begins in Tokyo in April of 1977.
A group of 60 junior Australian musicians have travelled to perform concerts throughout Japan.
Leading Japanese conductors are going to work with them at each performance.
On opening night, three conductors' wives, dressed in traditional kimonos, offered to run the ticket box. Yoko, Suki and Kiku assisted at all the concerts.
The choir performed the classics in Japanese, English and German. They ranged in ages from 18-25 years and the concerts took place over a two week period.
Special relationships grew between everyone involved and are still being shared today. The group hoped this would build relations between our two countries forever.
